Sept. 10, 2011

Today is Suicide Awareness/Prevention Day. I went with Tia's mom, Michaele, to the "Out of the Darkness" Suicide Prevention Walk. It was amazing. I cried during most of it, but I have never felt so at peace. Trish, Brooke, David, and Blake, I miss all of you, and to anyone out there who has lost a loved one due to suicide, I love you too, and I'm so sorry for your loss
<3 Hugs,
Mariah

September 6, 2011

Deja Vu, much? I was just reading my February 11th entry, and I realized something. That's EXACTLY how I feel right now, but with someone else. I am sensing a pattern, here. It's the "I like you, let's text, hang out, make out, OH, never mind I want to date another girl" pattern. Makes no sense to me. If it's true that guys like a challenge, how come he left me for the easier girl, the one who is willing to sleep with him? Hmmm. Frustrating.

September 4, 2011

So, this might be an insane, intense update. It's going to be part rant, part update, part bawling my eyes out, and part bitching people out.

So, to make a long story short:
As some of you may know, I am not LDS (mormon) anymore. I have my reasons why, and they are too personal to be disclosed here.  I moved back home near the end of July, and lived with my "adoped" ginger mom. Not going to mention names, but the man I mentioned previously that I thought I would spend the rest of my life with, played me, and is now dating the girl he was sleeping with the whole time we were dating...

A month after moving back, everything sort of fell apart. I lost the man I loved, my mom kicked me out due to lack of money$, and I had nowhere to go. Until one of my good friends in high school let me come live with her and her family. I am so grateful for them, and everything they have done for me.

That's pretty much the really, super condensed version of everything that has happened within the past month or so since I moved back. It's been crazy, but I have realized some things.

Don't believe something just because you were raised that way. Learn to be independent when it comes to belief. I took a step back, realized that mormonism was not something I believed in, it was something I was used to. I had been mormon for 19 years, and it's not who I was. I thing the LDS religion is totally fine, and some of my best friends are LDS. But, I need to follow what I believe.

Also, if you believe something different than me, DO NOT try and shove what you believe and what you think is correct down my throat. It's not going to change my opinion. Just because you say, "Well, you aren't getting into heaven if you don't go to church", it sure as hell won't want to make me go back. So, zip it.

Ok, well, I think I'm done ranting for today. If I feel like I need to add onto this, I will.
Goodnight, world.

I'm going home!

I'm finally doing it! I am going back home to Colorado! I've missed home so much. I have been in Utah for a year, and I'm just not happy here. I want to go back home where I have all of my life-long friends, and family. I am so homesick, and it's time for me to go home. I am going up to Orem this Friday to take photos of my friend's wedding, and then, I'm taking a bus from Provo to Denver on Sunday morning! I am SO STOKED! I will miss all the amazing people that I have met in Utah, though! Keep in touch!

July 19, 2011

Why do I always do this!?
I keep driving people away that I care about. It's like I'm too scared to let people close, because if they hurt me, the pain will be too much. So, if I keep them at arm's length, there is no chance I can get hurt.

Right?

My younger sister, Madeline, being the very wise 15 year old that she is, gave me some advice. She told me to just write down everything that I am feeling, and not edit it. Just write my raw, true feelings. And I am doing that right now. But, for some reason, the only thing I can even think about, is him. All I want, is him. I've know him since 9th grade, and since the day I met him, I've bee crazy about him. So, why in God's name is this hurting me so much? And why am I pushing him away? He wants to be with me. He is willing to risk being hurt to be with me, and I'm being a baby and being too scared. I've been played and hurt by so many guys, and I just don't trust them anymore. I know he isn't like any other guy. He is sweet, genuine, and all around amazing. But, for some reason, my stupid subconscious keeps putting him with all the other douchebags I have dated. I need to snap out of it or I'm going to lose him.

July 18, 2011

Buh-Bye, Facebook. I'm deleting my Facebook in three days. I'm tired of the drama that has ensued because of a stupid lip ring.  People don't know how to keep their noses out of people's business. So, if you still like me, and I still like you, make sure you continue to follow me on here, because this is where I will be updating my music, and photography. I will have separate links for both that I will be posting on here. Also, good news! I'm moving back home, to Colorado Springs, CO. I am not cut out to live in Utah. I have been here for a year, and it was a good learning experience. But, it's time for me to go home, and live life the way I want to. So, I hope to hear from all of you!

Love,
Mariah <3

I just had a life-changing epiphany

I. Just had. The most. Amazing. Epiphany EVER.

Ok. So, as most of you know, I put my lip ring in today, full well knowing that I would get flack for it.  And I was right. I did :)

But do I care?
No.
I wouldn't have put it in if I was scared of the crap people were going to give me.
It's my life, my face. And, I can't believe you have the nerve to tell me it looks trashy. Well, you know what?? I think your stupid, fake-blonde-barbie-from-Provo look is trashy.

So, there.

I know I'm stepping on toes right now. And I don't care. Because I am SO sick and tired of pretending to be this goody two shoes LDS girl who reads her scriptures every night and prays for the children in Africa, and wants to go to church EVERY Sunday. I do read my scriptures, every now and then, and I pray to help me get through another day in this Hell I'm living. But, I also swear sometimes. I wear tank-tops, short shorts, and I listen to 3oh!3. O em gee, send me to Hell. I'm the spawn of Satan.

So, in the LDS church, it says that looks aren't everything. We shouldn't be so obsessed with how we look and try to fit this physical mold that society has placed on us. That's exactly what I'm doing. And how is a lip piercing any different than an ear piercing?? It's not. Society is just saying it is.

This also goes for other mormons who don't live by the book. I know some AMAZING temple worthy men who never went on missions. I know amazing LDS girls who got pregnant in high school. Or who smoke. What you did/do does NOT make you a bad person.

And the most important thing I have learned today, is that I need to be ME. Even if it means people not liking me for who I am. You aren't worth being friends if you can't accept me for me. Having a lip ring does NOT change who I am. It simply (and BARELY) alters my appearance. I'm tired of being unhappy because I have to pretend I'm a God-fearing girl. I'm not saying I don't believe in God, because I do. I still believe in the LDS religion; that hasn't changed. But, I am human. Sometimes, religion is not a one-size-fits-all ordeal. I'm on this earth to be happy. Not to endure life. That's what I have been doing for the past 19 years. I have been enduring life. It's time for me to do something for me. I want to be HAPPY! And, the only way that's going to happen is if I'm just me. Not someone else. You can comment all you want on this. I am so interested to hear how you can argue this, and tell me that I CAN'T be me.

I'm not, in any way, bashing other members of the LDS church, at all. I still believe in the religion. But, I want to make my own decisions. I'm not perfect. And either are any of you. And, that's ok! We are here to make mistakes, not chastise people for theirs. I also want to say thank you to the people who don't really give to craps about what I do. Because they understand that what I do doesn't affect their life. It's appreciated :) You guys rock!

Sorry for the rant, I just had to get that out.

Also, I'm getting a tattoo soon, and getting my eyebrow done too :)

JUST TELL ME!

Alright, boys. I'm about to make this real easy for you, so listen up.

If you like me, just tell me.
If you only want to make out with me, just tell me.
If you want to have sex with me, just tell me. Even though the answer will be no.
If you are in love with me, just tell me.
If you want my babies, just tell me.

On the other hand:
If you don't like me, just tell me.
If you find me annoying, just tell me.

But, please, for the sake of your face and other important body parts, do NOT tell me that you like me, and want to date me, then make out with me, and then change your mind and just want to be friends. After about, let's say, a million guys, this game gets REALLY old, SUPA fast.

Also, do NOT tell me that you like me, want to date me, make out with me, and then say you aren't sure what you want, and once you figure that out, you will tell me if you want to date me or not. Because chances are, I ain't waitin' around for ya.

I'm sorry, but the above makes you a player. If you aren't sure if you like a girl, PU-LEEZE. Do not make out with her to solidify your doubts. It's just going to piss her off if you find out you thought you liked her and you didn't, and you used kissing to figure it out. Most girls assume that when you kiss a girl, you like her. Guess I have learned my lesson...

Here's a novel idea! Why don't you take her on some dates (kissing-free), get to know her, and THEN decide if you actually like her or not!

Oh wait. Dating doesn't even exist anymore. My bad.

Dating sucks.

Just sayin.

I'm so done. I'm tired of having to deal with all the shit that I have to and I am so done doing this alone. Why doesn't anyone understand how hard this is??

June 29, 2011

So. When people say you marry your best friend, they were so right. I'm not saying I'm going to marry him, but for now, he is definitely the one. We've been best friends since 9th grade, and I realized that he actually loves me, flaws and all.
He treats me like a princess, and actually realizes the value in me. He respects me, will do anything for me, and treats me better than I deserve to be treated. He has a heart of gold.

And you know whats interesting?

He's not LDS. Every LDS guys I have dated doesn't see me for ME. He does. I'm not going to change him. I honestly want to be with someone I love, not just someone who I kinda like because they are LDS. All the men I have dated who are LDS are just, eh. He is amazing. I would rather spend the rest of my life with someone I'm crazy about than spend eternity with someone who is, eh.

June 25, 2011

I want to go home.  Moving to Utah was the stupidest thing I ever did. No good came out of being here. I need to be with my family, and the man I want to be with. I'm tired of the drama, I'm tired of missing people to the point where I'm crying ever night. I miss my mom, and my sisters, and Nick. I can't do this anymore.

June 18, 2011

This. Is. Ridiculous.

People need to GET OVER themselves and stop posting crap about me on their facebooks. I apologized, and moved on, and you still have the guts to message my ex about me and call me ugly?? Just stop. You are making yourself look bad.  I have realized that moving to Utah in the first place was a HUGE mistake. Nothing good has come out of being here. Everyone I'm still friends with is in Colorado. I want to go back.

I think I'm finally moving on

As hard as it is for me, I'm finally moving on. No more second and third chances for people who don't deserve them. I am better than that. It breaks my heart to leave it all behind, but I know what's best for me, no matter how good I thought I had it. So, wish me luck!

June 10, 2011

Today is the day that I am making some major changes in my life. I'm living for me, and not anyone else. I still love my friends, and I'm so excited to meet new friends down here, but I'm here for ME. And whoever is lucky enough to cross my path, welcome to the crazy, hectic life of Mariah Jean Rory Griggs.
I was on the phone for an hour and a half, talking to my amazing red-headed mother. She gave me some amazing words of wisdom. Sometimes, I worry too much about making people happy. It's time for me to live for ME. I need to worry about making sure I am happy, safe and secure. I'm in a new place, so it's a great time to make a new start, on my own. I trust too easily; I let people into my life too easily. I'm not saying that I am not going to let people in my life at all, but I've realized that I have made friends with some people who are more worried about their standing with other people. I need to make sure I'm happy with myself and my life before I start making close connections with others. I have had amazing help moving down here, and I am grateful that I was able to come down to St. George.  I will see you all when I'm happy and successful!
Also, as much as I hate to admit it, I realized that even though I tried as hard as I could, I did contribute to the drama that has unfolded in the past few weeks. And for that, I want to say I am so sorry to the people that I drug into this, and to the people I hurt, even though I didn't mean to.  I made assumptions that I shouldn't have, and I said and wrote some things that were really hurtful, even though I never imagined that people would actually see the things I wrote. I was hurt, frustrated, and at my wit's end.  So, to all of you, I am truly sorry.
Ah! I feel so much better getting this all off my chest. It really is time for a new start. And boy, am I ready!

June 8, 2011

So, if there is one thing I have learned in the past week, it's that drama doesn't fix anything. I also learned that drama is everywhere, and the only way to get rid of it, is to ignore it. AND, I learned that I have an amazing guy best friend, and he stands up for me no matter what! <3
So, I turned in my audition video for X-Factor! I'm crossing my fingers, hoping that the judges like it! This could be an amazing opportunity for me to get noticed, even if I don't win! I want this so bad, even if I don't get to the top. So, everyone cross your fingers for me!! <3

June 7, 2011

Ah! I'm auditioning for the X-Factor today!! I hope someone actually watches it because I have auditioned online before, and I never even get notification that someone watched it. So, wish me luck!

June 4, 2011

Oh, goodness! I haven't written a post in almost 4 months! Well, I guess it's time to catch up!

The past 4 months have been crazy! The bad crazy, for the most part, but there has been some good crazy, too!  I guess, we will start with the bad news, so we can end on a good note.

So, following my last post, the situation with the last boy has fizzled out since. (Mainly because I moved far away, but we will get to that laters.)  I still have feelings for him, but I don't think I will get over him until I find someone better.  Since him, I have had a few boys that I've been into, but none of them are really what I'm looking for, or they just wanted a NCMO. That means "non-committal make-out" to all you non-Utards. (hehe, I didn't even know what that meant until a couple of weeks ago.)  Anyway, I need to just not worry about boys too much, right?!...Right....

Next:
Drama. Ew. There is nothing I hate more than drama. So, of course, following Murphy's law of chaos, I got placed with THE most dramatic roommate nine months ago.  For the first 4 or 5 months, we were actually pretty close, but after that, her true colors started showing, and she wasn't as pretty as her modeling portfolio made her out to be. She talked crap, threatened me and my friends, backbit, and stole stuff.  I think it's appropriate to say, she went crazy. Or, maybe, she couldn't control the crazy. Anyhoo, I did what was best for me, and I got out of there. I moved into my good friend's apartment. And for a while, it was going pretty good.  Then, all of a sudden, it seemed like residual drama from my previous apartment leaked into my new one. Because one of my roommates decided to ignore me, delete me off of Facebook, and avoid eye contact with me. And to this day, I still don't know "what I did."

So, on to the good news! I recorded an EP session with a good friend a few weeks ago, and it turned out so awesome! I feel famous! Thanks Tamra :D

Here is my Facebook page for my music.
http://www.facebook.com/pages/Mariah-Griggs/131034496972481?sk=app_2405167945

Also, I moved to St. George two weeks ago, so I could be with my best friend, Celestial. It's about three or four hours south of Orem. It's so sunny and warm, and I love it! I've been so much happier since I have been here. I already have a job, and am moving into my new apartment soon!

So, yesterday, my best friend, Celestial and I, went to Vegas yesterday! I've never been, so C decided that she would take me to just see it for a few hours. Thankfully, it's only an hour and a half away, so it's not that bad of a drive. We had fun, even though we ( including her BF) were all kinda cranky...

Oh, and one more thing. I'M GOING TO BE 19 IN LESS THAN 5 HOURS!! YAY!!

February 11, 2011

Ugh!! Being an adult sucks!!
So, today, I realized something.  Something that makes me mad at myself, and makes me wish I could turn back the clock.  For the past couple of weeks, I have been telling myself that I am over him and that he can't hurt me anymore.  I am so stupid.  I'm not even remotely over this kid, and I probably won't be for a while.  He, being the cruel man that he is, led me to believe he cared about me so much, and that he wanted to be with me, and then, got cold feet, and ripped the rug out from under me.  I'd like to say that I'm a pretty strong-headed girl, and I don't let guys have that much hold over me, but today, I realized, he really hurt me, more than I would like to admit. Somewhere, deep down inside, I wish he still wanted me.  I wish he would change his mind, and tell me that he was stupid for letting me go and that he wanted me back.  But, I know that isn't going to happen.
The thing that REALLY pisses me off, is that he just loooooves to play with my emotions.  I see him 4-5 days of the week, and some days, he ignores me, and other days, like today, he can't keep his hands off me.  He still flirts with me, and he is totally playing with my emotions, like it's nothing.  Why do men do that? Is it because they get bored with you, but still want you to hang around in case they change their mind? Well, bad news, buddy.  You may have hurt me, but in the end, I may have lost this battle, but I sure as hell won this war.

Day 5- Your Favorite Quote

So, my favorite quote isn't by a philosopher or some wise man or woman from years ago.  My favorite quote is, "She was drugged up on...drugs..."

The reason this is my favorite quote is mainly because I said it.  It was 3 in the morning and I was really really tired.  I was talking about how my cousin had been in the hospital because she got hit by a car while she was on a motorcycle.  She finally ended up on crutches, and she was doing some pretty funny stuff because she was on meds.  And the rest is history...

Day 4- Favorite Book

House of the scorpion is BY FAR my favorite book of all time.  I have read it OVER AND OVER.  This is a quick synopsis.

"The House of the Scorpion (2002) is a science fiction novel by Nancy Farmer about a young clone (Matteo Alacran) who is being raised by a drug lord named "El PatrĂ³n" (The original Matteo). It is a story about the struggle to survive as a free individual."

The reason why this is my favorite book, is because my teacher is 6th grade read this story to us.  When I got older, I read it myself.  The fact that it is about a clone, first off, is fascinating.  The fact that he tries to find individuality is a slightly cliche idea, but the author portrays it so perfectly.I absolutely love it, and I recommend it.

Day 3- Your Favorite TV Show

My favorite TV show BY FAR is "Criminal Minds." And it't not just because there is a sexy actor by the name of Shemar Moore in it or anything...Ok, I lie. It's one of the reasons.  But it's also one of those shows that just captivates you until the end.  With CSI, I can always guess who the suspect is.  But in "Criminal Minds" I am guessing until the end! It's FRIGGIN' awesome.

Day 2- Your favorite movie.
So, my favorite movie of all time wins by a landslide.  Despicable Me is my favorite movie EVER!  It is so freakin' hilarious and puts me in stitches every time I watch it.  LOVE IT!

30 Day Challenge! January 21, 2010Day 01

Day 01 — Your favorite song

My favorite song right now is, "Jar of Hearts" by Christina Perri.  Keep in mind that my favorite song changes on  a weekly basis.  But this song is my favorite right now because it is so melodic! The song may sound sad, but Christina sings with vehemence and passion.  She sings about how she won't let the man who broke her heart, do it again.

January 14, 2011

Does it ever seem like sometimes everything that can go wrong, will go wrong? In the past week, everything possibly horrible that could go wrong has happened, and I am stretched so thin.  I feel like I am about to break.  Everyone keeps telling me that I just need to pray and that everything will work out.  I know it will work out, but right now, it is so hard to deal with all the crap that God has thrown at me.  Maybe this is a humbling experience that I need, or maybe it's a trial that I need to go through, just like everyone else.  I know it will get better, and I will keep praying for strength to get through.

January 12, 2011

Getting your heart broken sucks.  Just saying.  You actually risk everything by putting your heart into a relationship with someone, because you actually care enough.  And then, one day, they rip the rug out from under you.  I don't think I have ever considered myself having a heart attack, but I guess heartbreak feels the same way.  I had never felt that way about anyone in my life, and I was scared and excited to care so much about a guy.  And to me, it seemed that he felt the same way, because he told me he did.  I don't understand how one day, everything can change, and they speak the four scariest words on the planet, "Let's just be friends."  My stomach dropped when he said it.  But for some reason, I saw it coming.  Why do us girls let ourselves do that?  And then guys wonder why some girls are scared of commitment....
